Start at the beginning.

“Everybody born comes from the Creator trailing wisps of glory. We come from the Creator with creativity. I think that each one of us is born with creativity.” – Maya Angelou

In my mixed media pieces, I combine realism with abstraction using acrylic paint, oil pastels, oil paint, graphite, found objects, and handmade paper that I craft myself from recycled magazines. Each of us is born with a spirit and a need for creation. It is my hope that in sharing my process and life experiences, I can help others to explore and develop their own, unique creative practices.

I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t making something. Despite having a father who was a professional musician, I allowed my fear of mediocrity and concern for financial stability to lead me to an arts-adjacent profession. Luckily my studies to become an art conservator at the University of Delaware/Winterthur Program incorporated many visual arts, art history/anthropology, and materials science courses which allowed me to continue to grow as an artist. After many years and several different careers, I’m centered in my creative practice and am helping others to overcome resistance to start their own creative journeys.

When I’m not in the studio, I can be found tending my homestead gardens, cooking for and cleaning up after my three lovely children (10, 6, and 2yo), or traveling between the U.S. and our new homestead project in Perú. Living in transition and making connections defines how I approach my process. My life experiences inform what I’m drawn to create and how I go about it. Thank you for your interest and in joining me on this adventure as I finally focus on my passion for creating and for helping others to explore their strengths and resilience through creative practice.
